Just Ask For Diamond

After the brilliant first day sales of "Lady Diamond" the next day gave Sexy Zone quite a rude awakening...

The second day sales are 18,978 . That's a drop of 72,56 % if I didn't miscounted! It is pretty normal that the second day sales are far below of the ones on the first day, but over 72 %?? I don't follow sale charts religilously but I can't remember such a remarkable drop. And I have no clue why this drop is that big. My first guess was an official holiday, but the only official holiday in April is on the 29th, the showa no hi (wich also marks the start of Golden week). Or are the Japanese fans scared since yesterday of getting hit on the head by the debris of a Northkorean rocket when they go shopping? Don't think so..So, I really have no idea.
Well, the good news about this is the fact that Sexy Zone still managed to sell more CDs than the pursuing Perfume who sold 16,937 on their second day. Wich means Sexy Zone are still on #1 in both the daily as well as the weekly Oricon charts.

Making of Lady Diamond

I'm really not a genius when it comes to ripping and converting videos, so this one isn't really flawless especially for it's size. I'm pretty sure there will be better videos aviable of this soon (The best way to get optimal quality ist to buy the limited edition B, by the way..!). But since I have it already up and liked this "making of" quite a lot, here it is:
001   002   003   004

Hi there!:)

First of all I want to thank you for all the SC ep that you’ve been sharing all this time!^^ I think it’s already 1 year since I’ve “discovered” you and I’ve been checking every month to download the SC and I already feel very bad that so much time have passed and I didn’t say at least once a proper “Thank you!” So I’m thanking you now, though I might have not found the perfect moment:-s I really appreciate all your hard work, I’m sure it’s not easy to cut the show in so many pieces and then upload it, everything takes time and you have a life too, so thank you for making time for people like me!^^ Thanks to you through SC I got to know this generation of Jr. better and somehow because of your passionate way of presenting every performance I almost got biased, though I don’t dislike it!^^ That’s why now I find myself being a fan of SZ so thank you for sharing the making of LD! I almost forgot that there is a making, too, I felt that I missed smth but I didn’t know what and then you lighten my mind by posting this entry, so thank you again!

Speaking about the sales, I was very worried when I found out that Perfume would release their single the same day. I don’t know why but whenever a JE release has to confront a release which comes from a feminine part I always feel more fired up about the charts position. The fact that we’ve sold more than them makes me really happy but speaking about that huge gap in sales somehow brings me back my worries. Though I don’t really know how it is normal seeing you so worried I guess it’s not good and I’m feeling very sad for our lovely boys. It was enough all the pressure that I felt when they released SZ, I don’t want to go through everything again!

Thank you very much for this nice comment! I have to admit especially the "and somehow because of your passionate way of presenting every performance I almost got biased" part makes me kind of happy :)

About the sales there is no need to be really worried, I think. I still don't know the reason why the sales dropped that much at the second day, but they not only dropped for Sexy Zone, but for all artist. That's why I thought of a national holiday or something like this at first. As of today Sexy Zone sold 108,665, which means they already achieved a Golden Disc status for this single after five days. This is quite an achievement these days where physical sales are going lower and for a group that is still new to many fans and hasn't a solid fan-base that was build up for years like other JE-Artists. And I'm 99,45 % sure they will be at #1 at the weekly charts, too.Lady Diamond won't most probably sell as many copies as the debut single in the first week, but that's pretty normal. And we shouldn't also forget that there were "only" three editions instead of five and that there weren't any hand-shake events for this (as far as I know). So to shorten it up: there is no need to feel sad for them. They are on a good way! :)
